The People’s committee has agreed to transfer the fund for the pilot project “safe food market” in 2013 to 2014 as per Department of Industry and Trade (DOIT)’s recommendation. The Department of Finance is assigned to consult the People’s Committee to transfer the fund in accordance with regulations.
In 2013, the pilot project of “safe food market” was approved. However, according to DOIT, the project type was totally new and the implementation time was so short (only six months since approval) meanwhile the workload is overwhelming, such as building the plan, site learning trip, survey of participants, etc. Besides, it was difficult to call on the fund from traders in the market as the project schedule fell in to Tet holiday. Therefore, it was infeasible for DOIT to implement the project within the time frame.
Up to now, the Department of Industry and Trade has finished the plan of pilot safe food market project up to 2015 with the vision of 2020. Ba Ria Market is the participant of the project. DOIT also held training course and issued certificates of food hygiene and safety to 180 officers of Economic Department, Market Authority in Vung Tau city and food traders in Ba Ria market.
