In the morning of 31 January, General Department of Energy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in cooperation with Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC) and Spain International Development Agency held the inauguration and handed the pilot project of solar power over to EVN SPC.
The project is funded by Spain government‘s non-refundable aid with total investment approximately 140,000 euro. The project was kicked off on November 24 2014 and completed on December 05 2014 in An Hoi Power Plant (Con Dao Energy Plant). The total capacity is at 36KW and power output estimated over 50MWh/year with 7 photovoltaic modules, 2 converters from direct current in to alternating current. All of the equipment’s are supervised and monitored remotely via data transmission system using 3G.
As Con Dao is an offshore island, the inauguration and handover of the pilot project of solar power in Con Dao District is a prerequisite to encourage the use of green energy in order to serve the local socio-economic development; create favorable conditions to achieve the objectives of developing Con Dao into a high quality tourism area.
