Mitsubishi Research Institute: Ba Ria – Vung Tau high potential for pilot project of Public Tech Support Center

On 31 March 2016, Department of Industry and Trade leader had a meeting with Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) delegates lead by Mr. Yoichi Sakurada, Chief Project Manager.

MRI introduced their research projects in Vietnam and the opportunity for Ba Ria – Vung Tau province to participate the projects. At present, MRI has 5 research projects cooperated with Vietnamese Institutes and universities. Of which, 3 projects namely component industry promotion policy, textile promotion industry and method to improve business administration capacity attract great attention from Ba Ria – Vung Tau leaders. According to MRI, Ba Ria – Vung Tau had high potential and was suitable for the project of component industry promotion policy. Mr. Yoichi Sakurada, Chief Project manager, expected BRVT would participate in the project and establish a pilot center of public technology support. The center aims at supporting local SMEs in terms of testing, quality qualification, technology consulting, R&D, etc.

DOIT leader expressed her interests in the center and would like to participate in the projects that MRI executed in Vietnam. Mr. Yoichi Sakurada informed DOIT leader that he would send all project details for DOIT to study. Mr. Sakurada personally loved BRVT and expressed his willing to take part in the research project of the provincial industry development which aimed to map out the development road for BRVT’s industry. At the end of the meeting, DOIT leader thanked Mr. Sakurada for his affection for BRVT and hoped that DOIT and MRI would have long term cooperation.
